On January 18, 2025, Arlington County released proposed real property assessments for the year, reflecting an overall 2.0% increase compared to 2024.
- Residential values increased by 3.7%, while commercial property values saw only a 0.1% rise.
- Office properties declined by 11.1%, marking the second consecutive year of declining values.
- General commercial properties increased by 2.6%, while apartment sector values rose by 4.2% because of strong demand for new construction.
- Hotel/motel values saw the sharpest increase at 22.0%, as the county moves to restore pre-pandemic assessment levels.
Potential Tax Rate Increase
With Arlington’s office market continuing to decline, the county faces budget challenges that may lead to another real estate tax rate increase for fiscal year (FY) 2026. The final rate will be set in April, making assessment reviews and appeals critical for property owners.
